The wedding of Claire & John was certainly a joyous occasion at both venues including the beautiful church at Stair and the impressive Carnell Estate where the reception was held.   I think they only have a limited number of weddings at this venue each year and the grounds surrounding the venue are certainly worth exploring.  Claire and John had commissioned an artist to oversee the guests producing a “masterpiece” painting during the afternoon reception with the bride and groom adding the finishing touches!

Congratulations to Heather and Gavin who were recently married at Forest Hills Hotel in Aberfoyle.  The weather was a blazing sun which the guests soaked up like there was no tomorrow.  You never know quite what weather to expect at this fantastic venue, though we were well prepared with brollies at hand just in case!

Today, was certainly a day for the nerves as my “Associate” Panel with the Master Photographers Association was assessed by a panel of 7 judges down in Darlington.  The panel of 20 photographic prints was not only deemed to pass the associate distinction, it was judged to be deserving of the higher “Fellowship standard”.  To quote the MPA, “the Fellowship distinction is the highest qualification attainable and recognises distinguished individual ability and exceptional standards of excellence”.  The whole process wasn’t made any easier by the television cameras following you and I’m sure I spoke some gibberish. Anyway, I’m absolutely thrilled and shall certainly have a glass of wine or two tonight ! 

The wedding of Sharon and Amedeo was certainly an international wedding event.  Guests from Italy and France and much further afield were in attendance to witness an absolutely superb celebration.  There were too many notable events to mention but special mention must go to the singing talents of one of the bridesmaids and even the children, plus the band of course!

We thoroughly enjoyed photographing the wedding of Claire & Michael over at Blantyre recently.  There were many notable events.  A children’s scramble in tradition of many Scottish weddings took place with the bride’s dad throwing a series of coins over the floor for the children to gather.  One of the children at the wedding who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, named Alex, certainly brought a tear to the eye of many adults as she walked down the aisle in advance of the bride and her father and later presented a lucky horse shoe to Claire.  I learned during the day that at one time doctors had advised she may never walk, so it was a very emotional occasion for more reasons than one.  Thanks for allowing us to photograph your wedding and good luck with the future.

What a smile, captured on location.  Doesn’t it make you want to smile back?  He was the most delightful child to photograph and it certainly helped knowing who Mr Tumble was.  Anyway, Lucas, I’m sure your smile will make many other people in this world smile who really need a little cheer in their hearts.

Congratulations to Jennifer and Michael who’s wedding ceremony was held at Strathblane Country House, situated about 20 miles outside Glasgow.  We dodged showers most of the day yet made the most of any time outside. A falconry display was also provided and it was certainly interesting to see the guests participating in the event. 

Kathryn and myself had the pleasure recently of photographing the wedding of Mary and Peter at the Brig o Doon Hotel in Alloway.  From cheery guests through to glorious weather, a fantastic occasion was had by all.  The gardens at the Brig O Doon were also looking very colourful in the late sun of the evening.  This venue has such character and charm.

There were few moments when Alasdair kept still for his lifestyle portrait, one of the fastest 1 year olds I’ve come across! However, the action images are equally as appealing.  Here he is relaxing, thinking of his next move across the garden.

Congratulations to Stuart and Joanne from Dalgety Bay who had a castle wedding at Kilconquhar Castle in Fife recently.  There was a lot of “rugby talk” amongst the boys who were keen to demonstrate their “gun” show and during the speeches even re-enacted one of their drinking games that took place during the stag event.  After the best man’s efforts successful to fill their glasses I was glad I was holding the camera!  The sun certainly shone down upon the both of you!
